The third generation of the Mini has been officially unveiled. The all-new 2014 Mini measures 3821mm length, 1727mm width, 1414mm height) and comes with a wheelbase of 2495 mm.
Furthermore, the track widths have been enlarged by 42 millimeters in front and 34 millimeters at the back. Under the bonnet of the 2014 Mini the buyers will find three engines.
The entry-level version will be the Cooper. It features a three cylinder 1.5 liter engine that can deliver 134 horsepower and 162 lb-ft peak of torque. Under these conditions, the car can return 62.8 mpg UK (52.2 mpg US or 4.4 liters / 100 km) and 105 g/km of CO2 emissions.
The second version of the new Mini will be the Cooper D. It has a 1.5 diesel unit with 114 horsepower and 199 lb-ft peak of torque. It can return 80.7 mpg UK (67.1 mpg US or 3.5 liters / 100 km) and CO2 emissions of 92 g/km.
The range-topping version will be the Cooper s. It comes with a 2.0 liter turbocharged petrol unit that is rated at 189 horsepower and 206 lb-ft peak of torque. Under these conditions, the British hatchback can return 49.6 mpg UK (41.3 mpg US or 5.6 liters / 100 km) and 133 g/km of CO2 emissions.
All the engines will send the power to the front wheels via a six speed manual gearbox or via a six speed automatic transmission. Inside the cabin we see a new instrument panel, a start engine button and a new arrangement for different functions. The buyers will be able to customize their Mini with a TFT display or with an 8.8 inch color screen.
In UK the 2014 Mini will have a starting price of 15,300 GBP for the Cooper version. The Cooper D can be ordered for 16,450 GBP while the range-topping Cooper S can be yours for 18,650 GBP.
