The big surprise Maserati was announcing a few weeks ago is not so big after all. At this year’s Paris Motor Show the Trident will showcase a new variant of the already famous Maserati GranCabrio, the convertible variant of the current GranTurismo.

The special edition is called GranCabrio MC Stradale, as his coupe brother, GranTurismo MC Stradale, shown in 2010 also in Paris Motor Show.

Although we have only a set of images with the new Gran Cabrio MC Stradale, the chances are it will sport the same mechanical updates as its coupe brother. This means that under the hood we will find the same Ferrari-sourced 4.7 liters V8, capable of 450 horsepower and 510 Nm, 10hp and 20Nm more than the GranCabrio Sport.

Launched properly, the car should hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds, same as the coupe.

The visual upgrades include a new front splitter, front and rear bumpers, front guard panels, side sills, hood, new exhaust tips and different alloy wheels.
