The Blue Oval has presented a new version 2011 Ford Mustang GT that will serve as the official Pace Car at this year’s 52nd edition Daytona 500.
The 2011 Ford Mustang GT Pace Car is based on the Mustang GT Glass Roof Coupe powered by the new 5.0-litre V8 that can unleash 412 HP and 390 ft.-lb of torque and returns 25 mpg.
Apart from the special Daytona 500 striped paint scheme the 2011 Ford Mustang GT Pace Car has been fitted with the Brembo brake package, Ford Racing suspension, strut tower brace and mufflers and special 19 inch painted wheels wrapped in summer-only tires.
The 2011 Ford Mustang GT Pace Car also received a special interior treatment and before entering the track the car will be auctioned at the 39th Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Collector Car Auction on Jan. 23 at WestWorld of Scottsdale, in Scottsdale, Ariz, with the resulting funds to be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
