Polestar, the Swedish performance division has developed a special package for the mighty Volvo XC90 T9 hybrid. As you already know, the XC90 T8 model has a 2.0 liter petrol unit and an electric motor. In total, hybrid powertrain delivers 400 horsepower and 640 Nm peak of torque.

Thanks to some special tweaks the XC90 T8 model can now deliver 421 horsepower and 680 Nm peak of torque. The 2.0 liter petrol unit offers 334 horsepower and 440 Nm peak of torque, while the electric engine deliver 87 horsepower and 240 Nm peak of torque.

As a result, the Volvo XC90 T8 Polestar can run from stand still to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, while the combined fuel consumption for the first 100 kilometers is clocked at 2.1 liters of gasoline.

Polestar also says that they have improved the throttle response and have optimized the transmission in order to deliver a special feeling for the driver. The new package is already available in Europe and Polestar has plans to release it also in the US.
