Volvo has announced today that the V40 and V40 Cross Country will now be available with two new Drive-E engines.

“The Volvo V40 D4 offers a massive 80 hp more driving pleasure than other cars in the segment with CO2 emissions at that level. This is yet more proof that the Drive-E power trains take efficient driving pleasure to a new dimension,” says Michael Fleiss, Vice President Power train at Volvo Car Group.

The first one is a petrol T5 unit with 245 horsepower and 350 Nm peak of torque. It can be connected to an eight speed automatic gear box and can average 5.8 liters per 100 kilometers.

The second engine is a D4 Drive-E and can offer 190 horsepower and 400 Nm peak of torque. When matted to a six speed manual gear box, the V40 has a fuel consumption of 3.3 liters per 100 kilometers with CO2 emissions of 85 grams per kilometer.

“Their outstanding take-off and responsiveness, combined with a smooth engine sound, will make the nimble V40 cars even more fun to drive, without compromising on modern customers’ demand for superb fuel economy and minimised CO2-emissions,” adds Michael Fleiss.
