Volkswagen has brought the New Midsize Coupé concept car to Beijing for its world premiere during Auto China 2014.

The Midsize Coupé has a low height (1,422 mm) but is surely very wide (1,838 mm). The car also has a low visual centre of gravity, short overhangs, muscular shoulders, big wheelarches, a dynamic roof line with swept-back C-pillars, a short boot lid and long bonnet.

Named with the term for a car of the Passat class, Midsize, the concept car is just 4,597 mm long meaning that is shorter than a Passat and shorter even than the Jetta.

The design was developed inside the group by a team led by Volkswagen head designer Klaus Bischoff. He integrated sharp proportions in a body of a compact saloon with coupe expectations.

Unde the bonnet, the concept has a 220 hp 2.0 liter four-cylinder TSI engine. It is enough to allow it to sprint from 0 to 62 mph in 6.5 seconds ant to reach a top speed of 152 mph. The car sits on 20 inch wheels with 245/40 tires.
