ABT Sportsline offers a preview of their upcoming tuning program involving the new generation 2012 Volkswagen Beetle, which they now call the Speedle.
Based on the idea that the new Beetle should be agile and fun to drive, ABT will offer power upgrades to all the engines currently offered on it and these include the 1.2-litre TSI which will be increased from 105 HP (77 kW) to 140 HP (103 kW), the 1.4-litre TSI which will pack 210 HP (154 kW) instead of 160 HP (118 kW) and the 2.0-litre turbo which will be rated at 210 HP (154 kW) instead of 200 HP (147 kW).
The diesel engines will not be overlooked, as ABT promises to increase the 1.6-litre from 105 HP (77 kW) to 125 HP (92 kW) and the 2.0-litre TDI from 140 HP (103 kW) to 170 HP (125 kW).
As you can see from this initial set of images, visual upgrades are also on the tuner’s to do list. Apart from featuring a lower center of gravity, the ABT 2012 Volkswagen Beetle will comes with modified bumpers, new side skirts, front headlights brows and a rear muffler with oval exhaust pipes.
The ABT tuned Beetle sits on 19 inch alloys wrapped in high-performance tires. Further details will be released at a later date.
