Volkswagen Motorsport has officially unveiled their new Golf TCR (Touring Car Racer International Series) car concept. The new German model was designed to evaluate a potential customer racing program and comes with a new body kit and a more powerful engine.

On the front part of the car we can see the new splitter, the modified spoiler while the side skirts have been redesigned. At the rear we have extender wheel arches, a special air diffuser, a dual exhaust system and a massive wing.

Since the 2016 Volkswagen Golf TCR was designed for performance, the interior was stripped out. You can see the sport seats, the roll cage and the new Alcantara steering wheel.

Under the hood of the 2016 Volkswagen Golf TCR is the same Golf R engine. We are talking about a 2.0 liter turbo unit with four cylinder that can deliver 330 horsepower and 410 Nm peak of torque. The engine is matted to a DSG transmission with steering wheel mounted paddle shifters.

"The newly created TCR category provides a promising platform for customer racing – on a national and international level. With exciting races, production-based technology and reasonable costs, it offers a new outlook for private racing teams", said Jost Capito, Volkswagen Motorsport Director.
