Toyota is making its return to the World Rally Championship with the brand-new GT86 CS-R3 model. The new car is built from a European-market version of the car and it will come back to WRC in January.
 
Until then, the Toyota GT86 CS-R3 will compete in the upcoming ADAC Ralllye Deutschland and it will be used as a pace car. 

Behind the wheels of the new model will be Isolde Holdereid, an ex-winner of the Ladies Cup WRC. The upcoming Toyota GT86 CS-R3 model will be a rear-wheel drive model and will come with a reworked version of the 2.0 liter boxer engine.
According to the Japanese officials, it will deliver with 40 – 50 horsepower more than the standard engine. In addition, the car will feature upgraded suspensions and brakes and, of course, a six speed sequential shift transmission.

The 2014 Toyota GT86 CS-R3 will mark the Japanese company’s first official return to WRC since 2002. As you already know, Toyota cars first began rallying in the early 1970s with rear-wheel-drive Corolla and Celica models.
