Toyota is preparing its reentrance in the medium-sized commercial vehicles segment. The new addition is called ProAce and it is based on the current Citroen Jumpy and Peugeot Expert. Even if it retains the same dimensions of its french brothers, the new ProAce will feature bespoke design details and Toyota-specific branding to the front grille, rear doors, wheels and vehicle interior.
Available as a Panel Van, Glass Van and Crew Cab, the new ProAce will have a load capacity of 5m3, 6m3 or 7m3 and a payload of 1200 kg.
The new model will have anti-lock braking (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability control (VSC) and daytime running lights as standard.
The new Toyota ProAce will be available with a range of three efficient diesel engines. The basic version will use a 1.6l engine (90PS / 180Nm) which is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Those who want more power, will have to choose between two 2.0 liter engines (128PS / 320Nm and 163PS / 340Nm) that come with 6-speed manual gearboxes.
The new ProAce will go on sale through the European Toyota retailer network during 1st quarter of 2013. First deliveries are anticipated in 2nd quarter of 2013.
