Another facelift model introduced by Toyota in Frankfurt is the 2012 Hilux, with the revised pickup benefiting from an updated design and cleaner engines.
The main changes at the exterior have targeted the front section, which according to the company is now completely new from the A pillar forwards. The 2012 Toyota Hilux features new lines that are more curved, like the ones on an SUV, and it includes a new bonnet, a trapezoid shaped grille, revised headlamps with highly visible turn indicators, and a new front bumper which adopts a large air intake flanked by the foglamp housings.
The rear lamp clusters have also been revised with the car now also including a new high level stop lamp, while the rear bumper is now featuring a flat design. 
Interior changes on the 2012 Toyota Hilux include a new horizontal central instrument panel which incorporates the 6.1 inch touchscreen, plus a revised instrument cluster with Optitron meters for the higher grade models. The steering wheel integrates the grade-differentiated switchgear, while the cabin is now adopting a series of darker finishes.
   
The 2012 Toyota Hilux will continue to use the current engines, but that the 142bhp 2.5 D-4D and 169bhp 3.0 D-4D units have been made Euro 5 compliant through the adoption of a diesel particulate filter.
As a result the 2.5 D-4D Double Cab emits 194 g of Co2 per Km (10 percent less than before) while average consumption figures are now 38.7 mpg on all body-styles.
On the 3.0 D-4D Double Cab automatic, CO2 emissions have dropped to 227 g/Km (203 g/Km on the manual) while combined fuel efficiency figures are now 31.7 to 32.8mpg and 34.0 to 36.7mpg respectively.
The emissions figure for the 3.0 D-4D Double Cab automatic has fallen to 227g/km and the manual to 203g/km.  Combined fuel consumption figures are improved from 31.7 to 32.8mpg and 34.0 to 36.7mpg respectively.
The previous transmissions, which included a 5-speed manual as standard and an optional 5-speed automatic for the 3.0 D-4D have also been carried over.
The 2012 Toyota Hilux price remains unknown at this point but the automaker did mention that this facelift version will be available in 36 European countries, and more than 135 throughout the world.
