After pioneering the electric sports car segment, Tesla reevaluates the possibility of giving birth to another zero emission product. Elon Musk himself, the founder of Tesla, declared that is considering a supercar in the future years.

The details are scarce, but there are rumours that Tesla is intending to compete against two future models already announced by Audi and Mercedes. We are talking about the futures Audi R8 e-tron and Mercedes SLS AMG E-Cell.

Tesla could benefit from Mercedes expertise, given the fact that the two companies work together for more efficient batteries, already found on the electric Smart. With such an experienced partner, it will be easy for Tesla to develop an AMG pedigree supercar.

Elon Musk declared: ”We will do an electric supercar at some point. It was going to happen right after the Model X, but it is more important to the world that we do a more affordable electric car first. Hopefully, we will get to an electric supercar in four to five years.”
