After it adressed UK families with the 2016 version of the Turismo model, Ssangyong introduces the 2016 version of the Rexton, its flagship SUV sold in England.

The most important change is under the hood, where we have a new 2.2 litre Euro 6 diesel engine with the choice of a 6-speed manual transmission or new Mercedes-Benz 7-speed automatic.

Maximum power is increased to 178 hp and torque to 400 Nm – up by 15% and 11% respectively over the previous Euro 5 diesel 2.0 litre engine. Maximum torque is delivered from a low of 1,400 rpm and maintained through a wide range up to 2,800 rpm for smooth, progressive driving.

CO2 emissions have been reduced to 184 g/km, down from 196 g/km on the previous manual transmission model, while fuel economy is considerably improved and now up to 40 mpg (Combined cycle) compared with 38.2 mpg on the model it replaces.

Built on a steel ladder chassis and with a 3 tonne towing capacity, the 2016 SsangYong Rexton feature multi-link rear suspension on the EX automatic and the ELX model. With either the 6-speed manual or 7-speed Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission, the driver can select low range when going off road which splits the torque equally between the front and rear axles.

Available with either five or seven seats, the Rexton range has a starting price of £22,995. But the top of the range 2.2 ELX automatic model can reach even £28,995.
