The Czech carmaker Skoda has officially unveiled the 2013 Octavia. The third generation of the sedan is designed to set new standards in the compact segment.

The 2013 Skoda Octavia has a new design, but the men from Mlada Boleslav have kept the classic lines. On the outside we can see a new front grille, a sloping roofline and a distinctive rear door "fin".

The third-gen of the Octavia is 90 mm longer and 45 mm wider than its predecessor and rides on a wheelbase longer with 108 mm. On the inside, the customers will have a three spoke steering wheel, metallic trim and a new infotainment system. Because we are talking about a family model, we should tell you that the boot capacity grows to 590 liter.

On the option list, the customers can choose from Adaptive Cruise Assistant, Automatic Parking Assistant and Intelligent Light Assistant. On the launch, the Czech model will be offered along with nine engines: four petrol units and four diesel engines and a natural gas variant.

Details have not been announced but Skoda officials confirmed that there will be a 1.8 liter TSI with 179 hp, and a GreenLine version with a 1.6 liter TDI that develops 110 hp. All the engines will be connected to a manual gearbox or a DSG transmission. In standard the 2013 Skoda Octavia will have a front wheel drive system, but the customers can chose an all-wheel drive.
