Seat has applied a mild facelift to their Ibiza family which now comes with a slightly refreshed look, upgraded quality and new engine options.
The 2012 Seat Ibiza is available in 3-door, 5-door and estate body styles, and the main changes in terms of appearance are the trapezoidal grille with flatter proportions and horizontal heneycomb structure, the redesigned bumpers and the larger fog lamps with integrated cornering light which are standard on the FR and are optional on the rest of the range.
The Ibiza’s new headlamps are now featuring an edgier style while the taillights are now offered with Optional LEDs.
The interior of the 2012 Seat Ibiza facelift is ‘expressive but minimalist’, and includes a new steering wheel, a newly designed Climatronic climate control system, a redesigned instrument panel and a larger glove compartment (10.7-litres in volume).
The 2012 Ibiza can be equipped with the latest generation TDI and TSI power units, DSG transmissions and efficiency features such as start / stop and speaking of the engines, these now include a 60 PS 1.2-litre unit, a supercharged and turbocharged 1.4-litre TSI rated at 150 PS and an efficient 1.2 TSI producing 105 PS among the petrols.
The 1.4 TSI is linked to a DSG gearbox and goes from 0 to 100 Km/h in 7.8 seconds (top speed 212 Km/h – 132 mph) while the 1.2 TSI enables consumption figures of just 5.1-litres per 100 Km.
The diesel range comprises from a 75PS/180Nm 1.2 TDI for the Ibiza E Ecomotive which requires 3.4-litres of fuel per 100 Km and emits 89 g/Km of CO2 plus a sporty 2.0-litre TDI delivering 143 PS. The 2.0 TDI version can reach a top speed of 210 Km/h (130 mph) and still remain very efficient with an average consumption figure of 4.6-litres per 100 Km.
Depending on the engine option, the Ibiza facelift  can be equipped with a 5-speed or a 6-speed manual or a DSG.
The 2012 Seat Ibiza will become available for purchase this Spring, with pricing details expected to be announced as we get closer to the on sale date. The Spanish company said it will also launch the range topping Ibiza Cupra version in mid 2012.
