Renault Megane RS Trophy-R is a special edition of the French hot-hatch, freshly introduced and responsible for setting a new front-wheel drive time record on the famous Nurburgring circuit.
The Megane RS easily conquers its title back, after Seat Leon Cupra 280 managed a better time earlier this spring.
The new Renault Megane RS Trophy R managed to lap the Nordschleife in just 7 minutes and 54 seconds, 4 seconds faster than the standard model.
Compared to the Megane RS Trophy, the new car weighs 100 kg less. Thanks to removing the rear seats as well as most of the sound-absorbing and insulating materials and installing light Recaro seats, while abandoning the back seat.
Under the hood we have the same four cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine, delivering 275 hp and 360 Nm. But it comes with some little extras, like the Cup chassis, the Akrapovic exgaust system, the adjustable Ohlins Road & Track dampers, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and 350mm brake discs.
Only 250 units will be produced, scheduled to reach 15 markets worldwide.
