The 2012 Porsche 911 specs have been leaked online by a member of the Teamspeed forum who downloaded the August edition of Car and Driver and posted it online. Car and Driver were on the exclusive list of journalists who got to join Porsche in the final round of testing the upcoming 911 in South Africa, so here is what they found out.
The 2011 Porsche 911, internally known as the 997 will be unveiled at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, and when compared with the outgoing model, the car is 2.5 inches longer and with a 4 inch longer wheelbase.
Engine options at launch will include a 3.4-litre unit replacing the current 3.6-litre flat-six for the Carrera and Boxter S and on which the power level will reach 350 HP, plus a 3.8-litre plant rated at 400 HP for the Carrera S.
Transmission choices will include a seven-speed manual and a seven-speed PDK, both available with Launch Control.
The 2012 Porsche 911 range will be enhanced with a HYBRID drivetrain in 2016, which is manly the reason why the car is longer. The upcoming model will feature an electronic parking brake, a full length sunroof, 19/20 inch wheels as standard and fuel economy figures lowered by 12 to 15 percent.
Teampseed has also managed to get a picture with the 2012 Porsche 911 interior, and as you can see the Panamera influences are clear.
