Peugeot will unveil two concepts at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show next month: the GTI Concept and the XY Concept.
The Peugeot 208 GTi Concept is a hot hatch which that attracts attention due to its styling and equipment upgrades that include the LED headlamps, rear roof spoiler, double-chromed exhaust, sportier looking spoilers and sill extensions, checkered flag grille pattern, the French or the Union Jack flag printed on the lower grille bar as well as the 18 inch wheels.
The 208 GTi has a sporty interior as well which concentrates everything around the driver, and in this case some of te features include a flat-bottom steering wheel, Nappa leather trim sports seats, high-tech instruments
with LED backlighting to the surrounds, black roof lining and aluminium pedals.
The Peugeot 208 GTi Concept takes its propulsion from a 1.6-litre turbocharged THP engine (the same in the RCZ THP 200) so in other words it should develop 197 bhp and 203 lb-ft of torque, although the automaker didn’t specify the exact figures yet.
The engine is combined with a 6-speed manual gearbox and in terms of performance is should be able to spring from nought to 60 mph in less than 7 seconds.
According to Peugeot the 208 GTi also features a 36 mm wider track at the front and rear, as well as uprated brakes using 302 mm diameter discs at the front and 249 mm diameter disc at the rear along with red painted brake callipers.
As for the XY Concept, in this case the automaker says the car is intended for "city dwellers who love distinction and refinement". In this case power is provided by a 1.6-litre e-HDi engine producing 115 bhp via a 6-speed manual.
The XY Concept features a special ‘Pulsion’ paintwork that appears to constantly change due to its sixteen costs of paint and lacquer, duel-effect 18 inch alloy wheels and special finishes applied to the lower window edge and the quarter panel.
Inside the Peugeot XY Concept there are pearly grey leather seats, a leather wrapped steering wheel, white ambiance lighting and various gunmetal accents applied to the door crossbars, steering wheel and vent trims. The XY also features a panoramic glass roof.
