A second model unveiled by the PSA Peugeot-Citroen on Friday, besides the Citroen C4 Aircross, is the 2012 Peugeot 4008.
Just like the C4 Aircross, the 2012 4008 is a compact SUV/crossover that is underpinned by the Mitsubishi ASX, with this particular model measuring 4,34 m in length, 1,8 m in width and 1,63 m in height and with a wheelbase of 2,67 m.
The new Peugeot 4008 will premiere at next year’s Geneva Motor Show and will go on sale in the second quarter of 2012.
The engines available for this compact SUV include two petrols : a 1.6-litre rated at 116 HP (85 kW) and 152 Nm (112 lb-ft) of torque, and a 2.0-litre plant delivering 150 HP (113 kW) nd 198 Nm (146 lb-ft) of torque plus two HDi FAP diesels with capacities of 1.6 and 1.8-litres delivering 112 HP (82 kW) and 270 Nm of torque and 150 HP (110 kW) and 300 Nm of torque respectively.
The petrol plants are mated with 5-speed manual as standard, with the 2.0-litre unit also available with an optional CVT automatic, while the diesels are exclusively linked to 6-speed manuals.
The 2012 Peugeot 4008 is available in both front wheel drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, with the system on the AWD version featuring three modes which are 2WD, 4WD and LOCK. In the first setting power is delivered only the the front wheels, while the in the last two, torque is directed to all
four wheels and its distribution is controlled electronically according
to the road conditions.
 
In Europe the 2012 Peugeot 4008 will only be sold with the diesel engines. Pricing will be announced as the on sale date approaches.
