The Germans from Opel are getting back into the motorsports with the new Adam Cup and with the Astra OPC Cup. These two models will be ready to compete in the next season.

The Adam Cup is developed for the international rallies while the Astra OPC Cup will be ready to rumble in VLC Endurance Championship.

"These new motorsports activities play an important role in the strategic re-alignment of the company; they are a fundamental element of our brand profile," said Thomas Sedran, Opel’s Deputy CEO.

The Adam Cup was developed according to the FIA R2 standards and it will be ready to compete against the Peugeot 208 R2 and Skoda Fabia R2. Opel’s strategy has been devised to last initially until 2016.

After that a modular development program has been envisaged where talented rally drivers can graduate from the “ADAC Opel Rally Cup” to an international level. In the first two of four stages, the ADAM will be employed. In stages three and four the next generation Opel Corsa is expected to be the rally vehicle.
