Opel enhances its Astra ecoFLEX range with a new engine, which according to them, will enable the hatchback variant to develop 130 HP (96 kW) and emit just 99g of CO2 per Km.
This engine is a 1.7-litre CDTI turbo diesel which delivers a maximum of 300 Nm of torque via a 6-speed manual transmission and which helps the Astra ecoFLEX consume just 3.7-litres of fuel per 100 Km (combined cycle).
Apart from the engine itself, other technologies that helped the Astra become more efficient include the brake energy recuperation system, the active aerodynamic components and the low resistance tyres (215/60 R 16 or 215/50 R 17 ContiEcoContact 5) which altogether have heped cut down emissions by 20 grammes per Km, and reduced consumption by 0.8-liters per 100 Km.
The Astra ecoFLEX is also equipped with an Intelligent Start Stop system and has a chassis that sits 12 mm lower than on the base model.
Pricing for the new Opel Astra ecoFLEX will be announced this fall, when the car is scheduled to go on sale.
