Opel has unveiled the high performance version Astra, the Astra OPC. This new hot hatch comes with a 2.0-litre direct injection 4-cylinder turbocharged unit under its bonnet rated at 280 HP and 400 Nm of torque (295 lb-ft) which spins the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
The 2012 Opel Astra OPC which on UK’s market will be called the Vauxhall Astra VXR is also equipped with a limited slip differential and in terms of performance the automaker only mentioned that its top speed is 250 Km/h (no 0 to 100 kmph / 0 to 62 mph acceleration times mentioned yet).
On the list of sporty looking exterior features, the 2012 Opel Astra OPC comes with aggressive looking bumpers, new side skirts, a small roof spoiler, trapezoidal shaped exhaust pipes and massive alloys.
The interior has been enhanced with bucket seats covered in leather, a flat bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather and revised gauges on the dash. 
The 2012 Opel Astra OPC also comes with the FlexRide adaptive suspension system which allows the car to be set -up in three different modes (Normal, Sport and OPC/VXR) 
Pricing for the 2012 Opel Astra OPC was not announced yet.
