After Ford ended its sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League football tournament, Nissan is now ready to go even further. The Japanese brand announces Max Meyer as company’s latest brand ambassador. The FC Schalke 04 midfielder will be part of Nissan’s UEFA Champions League campaign in Germany.

The 19-year-old is one of the most promising talents in German football: Meyer was top scorer at the 2012 under-17 European Championships, helping his national side reach the final, and was named ‘Golden Player’ in the process.

Meyer joins an elite team of Nissan brand ambassadors, along famous players like Yaya Toure of Manchester City, FC Barcelona’s Andrés Iniesta and Thiago Silva of Paris Saint-Germain. The emerging player will be the face of Nissan’s print and television advertising campaign in Germany.
