Gumpert’s world premieres for this year’s Geneva Motor Show are the Apollo R and the Apollo Enraged.
The Apollo R is a purebred race car that represents the company’s answer to increased demand, especially from Asia, which together with the Apollo Enraged, expands the current lineup comprising from the regular Apollo and the Apollo S.
The Gumpert Apollo R features a modified 4.2-litre V8 which was tweaked through higher supercharging pressure, ignition and control time adjustments,
optimisation of the intake air ducts and a special racing exhaust
system in order to bring the output to 860 HP.
The car also comes with an enhanced engine and transmission cooling system, a spur-toothed dog ring transmission controlled via steering wheel rocker switches, and a central digital dashboard which supplies essential information.
The Apollo R’s chassis was further improved with a titanium blade stabilizer on the rear axle, while by applied a number of optimisation measures, which also included eliminating comfort components, the car’s weight was knocked down to 1,100 Kg.
Roland Gumper said that "The apollo r is more powerful and lighter than any other apollo. Since
we are not necessarily known for understatement, we also decided to put
this superiority on display with correspondingly striking foils on the
apollo r"
As for the special edition Gumpert Apollo Enraged, in this case we are talking about the 780 HP street legal car which carries the racing sports genes of the Apollo R. The Enraged tip the scale at 1,175 Kg, is fitted with distinctive swing doors, features a designer paint job and foils, and will only be produces in 3 exemplars.
