The Trabant 601 was and still is a popular car in Europe. It is cute and if you don’t believe us check the picture gallery and the below video.

The story of this Traby started 14 years ago when a Polish car enthusiast bought this car. He replaced the standard 0.6 liter engine with a 1.1 liter Volkswagen Polo engine. But the unit was small and the Polish decided to replace it with a 1.3 liter unit.

Then, 1 1.8 and 2.0 engines followed, the latter one being taken from a Volkswagen Golf GTI. After a few years, the owner of the Traby had a car crashed and his Audi TT quattro was totaled. As a result, the car enthusiast decided to put the 1.8 TFSI unit and the quattro all-wheel drive system into the Traby.

As a result, the Trabant 601 has 270 horsepower and 369 Nm peak of torque. The car is able to run from stand still to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds, while the run from not to 200 km/h is done in 15.5 seconds. More than that, the owner replaced the standard braking system and has uploaded ABS and ESP systems.
