Mini has officially unveiled the five door version of its popular hatchback, marking an important moment in the history of the brand.
The new 5 door Mini wants to be more practical and has grown in dimmensions. The wheelbase is now 72 mm longer, measuring 2567 mm, while the total lenght now surpasses four meters. Thanks to the new dimmensions, the new five door Mini can seat three people on the back seat, and can increase rear legroom and foot space by 72mm while headroom has increased by 15mm.
The car also offers 61mm additional interior width at elbow height. The luggage capacity was also increased by 67 liters to a 278 liters. The access is made also through a 60:40 split backseat, which can extend the cargo capacity to 941 liters.
Nothing impressing on the outside, because Mini wanted to keep the traditional lines. The engine line-up will consists of the same units that we find on the three door version. This means we will have a Cooper, a Cooper S, a Cooper D and a Cooper SD. Along this popular units, Mini offers two transmissions, a six speed manual or a six speed Steptronic.
The prices start at 15,900 GBP for the five door Mini Cooper. The Cooper D is 17,050 GBP, the Cooper S a hefty 19,255 GBP while the top of the range Cooper SD costs 20,050 GBP.
