BMW has revealed the new 2012 MINI Cooper Coupe through a massive hi-res gallery and a promo video that can be found below the jump. The car represents the first two-seater to wear the MINI badge, and some of its highlights in terms of design include a distinctive, superimposed ‘helmet roof’, sharply ranked A-pillars and a wrap-around glass area, all part of a sporty, flat coupe silhouette.
In terms of dimensions the ‘three-box’ MINI is 3,734 m long, 1,683 m wide and 1,384 m high, plus it sits 52 mm lower than the regular MINI and it has a wheelbase measuring 2,467 m.
Some of the other exterior features, which according to the automaker, play an important role in optimizing the airflow at higher speeds include a roof spoiler and a rear spoiler which extends automatically at 80 Km/h (50 mph), plus of-course the  John Cooper Works aerodynamic kit which comes as standard.
The 2012 MINI Cooper Coupe engine lineup will contain the automaker’s new 4-cylinder plant, and depending on the market, customers will be able to choose between three 1.6-litre petrols (a 122 HP/90 kW for the base model, a 184 HP/135 kW unit for the Cooper S Coupe, a 211 HP/155kW unit for the JCW version) and a 2.0-litre diesel delivering 143 HP / 105 kW and fitted on the Cooper SD.
A 6-speed gearbox is offered as standard on all models, while a 6-speed auto is also available.
At the interior everything it typical MINI, and the absence of rear seats enabled the automaker to create a loading space behind the driver and passenger seats, and also create a 280-litre boot which can be opened from the inside.
In the UK the 2012 MINI Cooper Coupe price list has already been specified, and the base model starts at 16,640 GBP while the other three versions – the Cooper S Coupe, the Cooper SD Coupe and the JCW Coupe start at 19,775 GBP, 20,510 GBP and 23,795 GBP respectively.
