After a short preview and an announcement of entering production, Mercedes updates the info on the new Mercedes S600 Guard version, a car that will defend its occupant no matter what.
According to Mercedes, this is the first vehicle in the world certified for a a VR9 ballistic protection class.
To be able of offering such level of protection, the car feature a special type of steel body panels and a special aramide (heat-resistant synthetic fibers) and polyethylene components.
All the windows were reinforced with polycarbonate and a laminated structure, being more resistant to fire and bullets.
The car uses the same engine as seen on the standard version: the V12 6.0-liter twin-turbo engine outputting 530 PS (390 kW) and 612 lb-ft (830 Nm) of torque.
The car can be had with three or four seats in the rear and with a luggage compartment shrinked by the armor.
