Mercedes-Benz has officially unveiled the 2016 X-Class pickup concept during a special event held in Sweden. At the stage the German car manufacturer has revealed 2 special versions of the X-Class.

Each version has a special character. The white one is equipped with the Stylish Explorer package, while the other concept has the Powerful Adventurer package.

The Stylish Explorer comes with plush interior, sporty bumpers, 22 inch alloy wheels, while the Powerful Adventurer is developed for off-road use. It has a massive ground clearance, extra body cladding and wider wheel arches. The off-road wheels are also on.

"With the X-Class, we will close one of the last gaps in our portfolio. Our target is to offer customers vehicles matching their specific needs. The pick-up will set new standards in a growing segment", said Mercedes-Benz boss Dieter Zetsche.

The entry-level version will come with RWD in standard, but the all-wheel drive system will be offered as an option. The engine range will come with four-cylinder petrol and diesel units. The show cars are powered by a V6 diesel unit.

"The Concept X-CLASS design variants interpret the hallmark brand design idiom of our SUVs in a most expressive form, and embody the dichotomy of our design philosophy: they are hot and cool. With its progressive design the powerful adventurer expresses cool modernity and thirst for adventure, while the stylish explorer on the other hand uses pure emotion to provide a tangible experience of modern beauty", said Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Daimler AG.
