Last weekend, Mercedes-Benz officials have announced that the S-Class Guard, an armored version of the brand’s flagship model has entered production. 

The new 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Guard is manually produce in Sindelfingen near Stuttgart, Germany and it is assembled alongside the E-Class armored, M-Class, G-Class and S-Class Pullman. 

According to Mercedes-Benz, the new S-Class Guard offers up to VR7 levels of protection against military weapons. It can also withstand shrapnel coming from hand grenades as well as other similar types of explosives.

The windshield alone has 135 kilograms and it is 10 cm thick, and most areas of the passenger cabin are wrapped in 5 cm thick steel plates.
 
For now, the S-Class Guard is available in S600 version and cost around 200,000 Euros (324,300 USD). More than that, Brabus, the Mercedes-Benz tuning house will launch in 2015 an armored S-Class Pullman which will have a base price tag of 1.34 M USD.
