Daimler has fully unveiled the 2012 Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster during the weekend, offering numerous photos and a video along with announcing specifications and pricing for the open-top version two-seater which lost its Gullwing doors.
Powered by a front-mid positioned 6.3-litre V8 generating 571 kW (420 kW) and 650 Nm of torque, and built around an aluminium speceframe body, the 2012 Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster uses a 7-speed dual clutch transmission in a transaxle arrangement and a sports suspension featuring double wishbones.
The three layer fabric roof fitted on the 2012 Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster can be operated at seed of up to 50 Km/h and takes 11 seconds to either fold or unfold. Regardless of the roof’s position (folded or unfolded) the trunk’s capacity remains the same (173 litres), and the three colours in which the soft top is available are black, beige or classic red.
In terms of equipment, some of the features offered as standard on the 2012 Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster include the AIRSCARF system which warms the head and neck, heated AMG sport seats, designo leather upholstery, satellite navigation and DVD player and dual zone automatic climate control. Options include a premium sound system from Bang and Olufsen and an AMG Performance Media system.
The 2012 Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster price starts at 195,160 Euro, and the automaker will start accepting orders from June 1st, 2011.
