The 2012 Mercedes ML63 AMG has been officially revealed by Daimler through photos and details that were published right before this model’s public premiere at the Los Angeles Motor Show on Wednesday.
This performance version based on the new ML comes with a 5.5-litre V8 which is not only a bit more powerful (adds an extra 15 HP), but it no less than 33 percent more fuel efficient than the old 6.3-litre V8, promising an average consumption of just 14.7 litres per 100 Km (16 mpg).
Thanks to this engine the 2012 Mercedes ML63 AMG will produce a total of 520 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, figures which could go even higher at 550 HP and 760 Nm if the car if equipped with the AMG Performance Package.
The 0 to 60 mph acceleration time and top speed for the 2012 Mercedes ML63 AMG are 4.7 seconds and 155 mph (4.6 seconds  and 174 mph with the AMG Performance Package) and thanks to the AMG Speedshift Plus 7 transmission, the car can be driven in three different modes which are Controlled Efficiency (C), Sport (S) ÅŸi Manual (M).
In Efficiency mode the ML63 AMG activates its Start-Stop system automatically.
Visually, the 2012 Mercedes ML63 AMG is distinguished by its more aggressive looking bumpers and side skirts, the dual twin-pipe exhaust system and the slightly lowered center of gravity.
Pricing for the new ML63 AMG was not announced, but the company did say that is will start selling it in the first quarter of 2012.
