The basis is an E500 coupe of the year 2009 driven by the classical 5.5 litre V8 engine and the nonconspicuous factory painting in obsidian black metallic. The highlight of the conversion is definitely the multipart PD850 Black Edition wide body construction kit with its complex construction process. In addition to a front bumper bar and an engine hood attachment, the front of the Ecoupe was thus also fitted with a set of completely new fenders and a front spoiler lip painted in red. The front and rear are connected by curved side skirts. The rear was massively broadened by means of new side panel extensions and a completely new rear fender skirt with integrated diffuser. A trunk cover spoiler finally ensures a little compacting pressure on the rear axle.

Working under the engine hood is a classical V8 engine with a cubic capacity of 5,461 ccm with a serial performance capacity of 387 horse power (285 kW) and taps from an impressive maximum torque of 530 Nm. Performance was boosted to 401 horse power after software optimization and this now drives the coupe with a maximum torque of 560 Nm. Its waste gas is processed by a sports exhaust system manufactured by M&D from stainless steel, on whose end a set of original SL65 AMG endpipes were mounted. The cover of the engine compartment was fitted with bicoloured painting in red and black to match the colour concept. Sophisticated light alloy wheels turn in the massively broadened wheel houses in the format 9×20 inches with 235/30R20 on the front and 10.5×20 inches with 285/25R20 Falken FK452 tyres in the rear. Performance springs of the reputable company H&R is in control of the lowering of the chassis. There are two individualised brake callipers painted in red concealed behind the rims.

Even the interior of the coupe of 2009 was subjected to a proper upgrade. M&D thus constructed an AMG facelift airbag steering wheel with shift paddles and an AMG gear selector lever and painted all decorative wooden parts in deep black. The tuners from Dinslaken also offered a complete LED surroundings illumination / location lighting Conclusion: Once again, the M&D Exclusive Cardesign boys have done an outstanding work and converted an Ecoupe to a widebody look with no holds barred. The conversion looks extremely homogenous, all clearances are aligned in millimetre precision and repainting is done in calcite white while the black 20inch PD1 rims give the package a perfect completion! Whoever may like the sportive looks of the coupe but still wishes to dare a more invasive work on the body is definitely in safe hands with M&D – ready to assist also with a slender PD550 Black Edition variation (a good match for the coupe and the convertible).
