McLaren has developed a series of upgrades for the MP4-12C that make the high-performance sports car a little more powerful and ‘yet easier to live with’.
Some of these upgrades are available for free to those who already own a McLaren MP4-12C and will also be found on the 2013 model year versions.
They include a 25 HP increase due to the recalibrated ECU, meaning the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 will produce a total of 616 horses, a revised 7-speed SSG transmission, a programmable intake sound generator and headlights that are now linked to the rain sensor when in automatic mode.
The 2013 McLaren MP4-12C also features an Easy-Exit electric seat function incorporating Seat Return, and a new meridian audio equaliser settings.
Due to the power increase the car will continue to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 3.1 seconds, but it gets 0.1 seconds faster when going from 0 to 124 mph, and 1 second faster in the 0 to 186 mph sprint. Its top speed has also increased from 204 mph to 207 mph while consumption and emission figures remained unchanged at 24.2 mpg (UK rating) and 279 g/Km.
