The Japanese carmaker Mazda has officially unveiled the all
new Mazda6 at the 2012 Moscow Auto Show. The third generation of Mazda6 is heavily
inspired by the Tackeri Concept a prototype revealed in 2011.
The Mazda6 follows the "KODO – Soul of
Motion" design language and it encompasses the full range of SKYACTIV technologies. "We have created a design in which the wild and dynamic
expressions of motion artistically realize a powerful presence. Simply looking
at the car heightens one’s expectations about the driving experience even
before actually riding in it"
, says chief designer Akira Tamatani.
The Mazda6 is 4,865 mm (191.6 inches) long, 1,840 mm (72.4
inches) wide and 1,450 mm (57.1 inches) tall and rides on a 2,830 mm (111.4
inches) wheelbase. In the cabin the Japanese sedan comes with higher quality
materials and a brand new center console.
In Russia the mid-sized sedan will use two powersources. We
talk about the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 which produces 150 PS (110kW / 148 HP) and 210 Nm
(155 lb-ft) of torque and the SKYACTIV-G 2.5 which develops 192 PS (141 kW /
189 HP) and 256 Nm (189 lb-ft) of torque.
Both units will have Start/Stop technology
and the all new i-ELOOP regenerative braking system. This innovative system
uses a capacitor which is charged when the driver takes the foot off the
accelerator. The electricity stored is used to power other electric components
which mean that the car will use less fuel.
The European version of the Mazda6 will be revealed at the
2012 Paris Motor Show scheduled to take place at the end of September.
