The RX8 will be out of production by the end of summer 2012, but according to Mazda, this will not mean that rotary engine development will also stop.
The Japanese car maker has just announced one final special edition model called the Mazda RX8 SPIRIT R based on the 6-speed manual version RX8 Type RS and the 6-speed automatic Type E, which will go on sale on the company’s home market from November 24th.
Mazda hopes to sell around 1,000 exemplars RX8 SPIRIT Rs, and in order to do that they have added a series of exclusive features to the car such as unique badges, headlights, fog lights and rear combination lights with black bezels, red painted brake calipers and piano-black trim for the transmission tunnel.
The Manual version Mazda RX8 SPIRIT R comes with special bucket seats from RECARO and bronze 19 inch alloy wheels wrapped in 225/40R19 89W tires, while the automatic version features black leather across the seats, steering wheel and hand brake lever as well as contrasting red stitching.
The automatic version also gets touches of synthetic leather along with a sports suspension, larger brakes and 18 inch alloy in gun metallic finish wrapped in 225/45R18 91W tires.
The Mazda RX8 SPIRIT R is available in three exterior colours : Aluminum Metallic, Sparkling Black Mica and Crystal White Pearl Mica.
