The world premiere for the 2012 Mazda CX5 took place today in Frankfurt, the same place where the Japanese automaker has also brought the updated Mazda3 for its European debut.
The 2012 Mazda CX5 is a compact crossover following the automaker’s latest trends ‘KODO- Soul of Motion’ in terms of design plus its latest SKYACTIV technology.
Measuring 4.5 m in length, the 2012 Mazda CX5 will go on sale in Europe next year, with some of its attributes being the all new petrol and diesel engines, the new manual and automatic transmissions, the new suspension the the choice between a two- or four-wheel-drive powertrain.
The new MX5 is one of the lightest and most aerodynamic models in its class, (Cd of 0.33), and each of its engines feature a record braking compression ratio of 14:1.
Also each 2012 Mazda MX5 will come with the i-stop system as standard, while in terms of powering options, customers will be able to choose between the SKYACTIV-G 2.0 direct-injection petrol rated at 165 PS/210 Nm and the two SKYACTIV-D 2.2 diesel engines featuring a two-stage turbocharger which are able to deliver either 150ps/380Nm or 175ps/420Nm.
In terms of consumption the new FWD CX5 manual version returns 47.1mpg / 139g/km (petrol) and 62.8mpg / 119g/km for the 150ps diesel.  The diesel engines are compliant with the Euro 6 emissions standards.
