Here are the first official photos with the Maserati Kubang. The car represents the Italian automaker’s vision of a high performing sport luxury SUV, and thankfully it does not look anything close to what we’ve seen in the fake leaked photos that have been circulating around the Internet these past few days.
The company says that the Maserati Kubang will address the fact that none on today’s SUVs offer the uplifting driving pleasure and luxury atmosphere given by high-end sports and luxury cars.
Maserati has played with the idea of introducing an SUV since 2003 when it first presented the Kubang concept at the Detroit Auto Show, and today they say they are already thinking of building one.
This idea is easier to put into practice today due to Fiat’s recent alliance with Chrysler, a company which has created the SUV segment through the Jeep brand around 70 years ago.
Right now there are no technical features we can discuss, but the Italian company hints at the fact that the new Kubang will make use of new-generation high-tech Maserati proprietary engines designed in Modena by Paolo Martinelli.
The styling features will also be typical Maserati, in ‘perfect comunity’ with the existent models. The Maserati Kubang was styled at the automaker’s Style Center by Lorenzo Ramaciotti.
We are also informed that the Kubang will use make use of an 8-speed automatic transmission and will use specific performance settings such as suspensions, brakes and steering exclusively developed in Modena.
