Apart from the road going Exige, the Brits from Lotus have also brought the Exige R-GT in Frankfurt.
The Lotus Exige R-GT is the car with which the automaker wants to get back to rallying, more than 30 years after it achieved the World Rally Championship victory in a Talbot Sumbeam.
Group Lotus’ Director of Motorsport Claudio Berro said that "With the new R-GT rules in rally, it’s a very interesting time for us to
return to the sport. Naturally our approach this time around will be
different to when we won the championship with Talbot three decades ago
but I think our philosophy is definitely the same, we want to compete
and ultimately we want to win. Our new rally car, the Exige R-GT is a
dream come true for those who are passionate about GT racing – this will
be their car."
So what is the Lotus Exige R-GT all about? well power comes from the same 3.5-litre supercharged V6 found in the new road version, but the car will feature important modifications to the gearbox and the restrictions on the engine in order to control the power.
The Lotus Exige R-GT weights 1,200 as it has to comply with the FIA R-GT regulations, and it features a steel roll cage, front and rear underbody protections, side protections, lexan side windows and an air scoop on the roof.
The Exige R-GT’s suspension features double A-arms and 3-way adjustable dampers, front and rear while its transmission is a 6-speed sequential with two homologated final drives.
