A second new model from Lincoln which premiered in Los Angeles is the latest generation 2013 MKT crossover.
Just like the MKS the new MKT features revised styling, new engines (which are more powerful yet more efficient), improved handling and new safety technologies.
The engines are a 3.7-litre V6 which sends 300 HP and 275 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels, and a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 which feeds 300 HP 350 lb-ft of torque to an AWD drivetrain. Both these engines are mated with 6-speed automatic transmission and return fuel consumptions figures of 17/25 mpg and 16/22 mpg respectively (city/highway).
Apart from the improved exterior appearance and the new interior styling which uses better materials and a higher level of craftsmanship, the 2013 Lincoln MKT is now also equipped with Lincoln’s Drive Control system which allows the driver to change the car’s dynamics between Sport, Normal and Comfort.
The new MKT has replaced the old fixed-rate dampers with the CCD damper control system which continuously ‘reads’ the road and adjusts around 20 times per second.
In terms of safety and driver aid systems the 2013 Lincoln MKT comes with Inflatable rear seat belts, 6-airbags, ABS, Traction Control with RSC (Roll Stability Control), Curve Control which is a system designed to apply the brakes in case the driver enters a curve to quick, Lane Keeping System and Collision warning
Production for the 2013 Lincoln MKT will take place in Oakville, Ontario and according to the automaker, its dealership arrival is scheduled for this spring.
