Lamborghini has unveiled the Urus Concept at the Beijing Auto Show, their second take at an SUV after the original LM002 from the 1980s.
The Urus which draws its name from the Spanish fighting Aurochs bull has not been confirmed for production yet, but the Italian brand stated that the "Urus is a very concrete idea for the future of Lamborghini – as a third
model line and as the perfect complement to our super sports cars".
Measuring 4.99 m in length, 1.99 m in width and 1.66 m in height, the Lamborghini Urus is comparable in size with the X6, with propulsion in this case coming from a front-mounted engine which is expected to produce 600 HP (440 kW) via a dual-clutch gearbox and a permanent four-wheel drive system with traction control.
The engine was undisclosed yet, but it is expected to be the same V10 that will be found in the upcoming R8.
In terms of appearance the Urus looks aggressive due to its angular front fascia with massive air intakes, LED headlights and vented hood, but also due to its massive 24 inch wheels in matte aluminium finish and rear end styling.
Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Lamborghini also said that "SUVs stand for freedom and emotion. SUVs make up one of the most
successful market segments worldwide. The Urus is the most extreme
interpretation of the SUV idea; it is the Lamborghini of the SUVs."
