Kia has published two teaser pictures of the upcoming Kia Niro concept. According to the Korean car manufacturer, the concept will be showcased during the Chicago Motor Show and it represents a Hybrid Utility Vehicle (HUV).

As you can remember, this isn’t the first time Kia used the Niro moniker. It was back in 2013 when the South Korean car manufacturer used the Niro to name another concept that was revealed during the Frankfurt Motor Show.

According to Kia, the new Niro hybrid utility vehicle will ride on a new platform and will be able to achieve a sub-90 g/km CO2 rating. Kia isn’t saying a word about the hardware arrangement but they have announced that we will see a new generation of gasoline-electric downsized hybrid powertrain.

We think that the new Kia Niro HUV will use the same plug-in hybrid powertrain seen in the Hyundai IONIQ but we won’t deliver rumors. We will expect to see the official details.
