Jeep has confirmed a pick-up Wrangler in the works. More than that, the US-based car manufacturer has also announced a new compact SUV that will be showcased in March during the 2016 New York Auto Show.

The new compact SUV will be a replacement for the Compass and Patriot models and it will stick to one of the two names. According to Jeep’s global chief, Mike Manley, the Patriot is better known in North America while the Compass is more popular elsewhere.

But the most important news is that Jeep will deliver a pick-up model based on the upcoming Wrangler model. It will not arrive sooner than 2018 and it will be built in Toledo. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles could release additional details about the Wrangler-based pickup later this month during the annual meeting. More than that we expect to see a concept car in 2017 which will preview the following production model.
