Hyundai has published another picture set with the upcoming Hyundai IONIQ. The car will be able to break hybrid stereotypes because will be offered as an electric, plug-in hybrid, and a pure hybrid model. 

The hybrid versions of the new 2016 Hyundai IONIQ will combine a newly developed 1.6-liter GDI 4-cylinder petrol engine with 103 horsepower and a 43.5-hp electric motor that uses a Lithium-Ion polymer battery set. As a result, the hybrid powertrain is able to deliver 141 horsepower which are sent to the wheels via a new dual-clutch 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The South Korean officials have told us that the electric motor is able to power the car up to 75 miles per hour (120 kilometers per hour) and the battery set is located underneath the rear seats.

“The launching event announced the start of new future mobility and our will for technological innovation to the world. Hyundai Motor will spearhead efforts to become the global number two in the green car market by introducing over 22 models in the eco-friendly car line-up by 2020”, said Moon-Sik Kwon, vice chairman at Hyundai Motor R&D Center.

Inside the cabin, the 2016 Hyundai IONIQ will feature a seven-inch display instrument panel while the infotainment system will offer Apply CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
