Yesterday the Japanese car maker was only presenting us with the first photos that unveiled the new generation 2012 Honda Civic Hatch. Today they are providing in depth details with the mechanical aspects of this European bound model.
Starting with powertrain options the 2012 Honda Civic Hatch will be offered with two petrol units (with a capacity of 1.4 and 1.8-litres) and a 2.2-litre diesel, all of which come linked to a six-speed manual transmission, ECO Assist, advanced fuelling control technology
and Idle Stop (start-stop).
The 1.8-litre engine can be equipped with a specially designed 5-speed automatic transmission as well, and all models are also featuring the Hill Start Assist system as standard.
The 1.4-litre i-VTEC engine delivers 100 PS, while the 1.8-litre i-VTEC has 42 additional horses as it produces 142 HP. As for the 2.2-litre i-DTEC diesel, this engine has been further improved and apart from producing 150 PS and 350 Nm of torque, its also enables lower consumption and emissions figures of 4.2-liters per 100 Km and 110 grammes of CO2 per Km.
The 1.8-litre petrol manual version requires 5.8-litres per 100 Km (6.3-litres/100 in the automatic), while the 1.4 covers 100 Km on just 5.4-litres of fuel. CO2 emissions for the 1.4-litre model are 129 g/Km.
Apart from featuring more efficient engines the 2012 Honda Civic 5-door hatch is also providing increased cabin and boot space while its ride performance and handling have been improved through the adoption of a rear torsion beam suspension system with fluid-filled bushes.
The development team have also sharpen the 2012 Honda Civic in terms aerodynamics, while at the interior the car provides a driver oriented cockpit that was inspired from the those seen in airplanes.
Pricing for the 2012 Honda Civic Hatch was not announced yet, but sales are expected to beging early in 2011.
