Ford has officially unveiled the 2013 Mondeo facelift, and even though the model was originally previewed in January the new presentation managed to surprise us.

Along with the four-door sedan variant of the Mondeo, the American carmaker also presented the two more body styles, the sleek five-door liftback and the more spacious and practical Wagon models, both of witch were developed for Europe.

The Mondeo wagon retains the angular front-third from the sedan version, but it also has the high quality materials and a modern design form Fusion.

Also, the officials highlighted some of the features like the full LED headlamps, a panoramic glass roof, inflatable rear seatbelts, a segment-first SYNC with MyFord Touch infotainment system featuring voice-activated in-car connectivity, an eight-inch color touchscreen and a WiFi hotspot that supports up to five devices.

Under the hood we have a variety of engines that will be available. Besides the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine with 123HP (125PS) and 170Nm (125 lb-ft) of torque, Ford confirmed the availability of a hybrid variant with a 2.0-liter petrol engine and a 35kW lithium-ion battery.

Another premiere for the Mondeo will be a diesel engine which can be paired to an all-wheel drive system.

"This is the most premium Mondeo we’ve ever built and the most premium vehicle Ford’s loyal European customers have ever been offered. It raises the bar in its segment in terms of style, technology and quality,"  said Stephen Odell, chairman and CEO of Ford of Europe.
