Ford currently offers two similar ST cars: the European diesel and the petrol engine of the Ford Focus ST hot hatch.  The Blue Oval managed to put both cars head-to-head on the Castle Combe Circuit in England, to see which is better.

2015 Ford Focus ST Hatchback

The 2015 Focus ST Hatchback comes with a turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine that outputs 252 horsepower and 270 lb-ft. of torque.  The wagon goes from zero to 60 in 6.5 seconds and a top speed of 151 mph. The efficient Focus ST hatchback offers 64.2 mpg.  The engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

2015 Focus ST Diesel Estate

The 2015 Focus ST TDCi comes with Ford’s European 2.0L TDCi inline four-cylinder engine tuned to 182 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.  The car goes from zero to 60 in 8.1 seconds with a top speed of 135 mph.  The Focus ST TDCi with 64.2 mpg is one of the most fuel-efficient Ford performance cars ever built and one of the lowest CO2 emissions of any Ford sports car.  The turbodiesel engine mated with a performance tuned six-speed manual transmission.  Unfortunately, like most diesel cars sold overseas, there are no plans to sell the Focus turbodiesel in the U.S.
