Ford unveiled the new generation F-150 just a few months ago, and now is already considering expanding the range with a new version, dedicated to all of those who want a big and powerful pick-up truck but with the efficiency of a small car.
Increased Efficiency
We are talking about a hybrid Ford F-150, confirmed by Raj Nair, global product development chief. The official underlined the importance of such a version for people who were more concerned about emissions and fuel consumption.
Ford is even considering the introduction of a diesel version on the US market, but only if the public will ask for it. The information was stated by the same Raj Nair.
Production
We remind you that Ford started production of the new 2015 F-150 model at its Rogue factory in Dearborn, Michigan.
The preparations for the new model were made months ago, with 850 employees and 500 robots being added to ready the production.
Efficiency
The 2015 F-150 is the most efficient F-150 ever, due to dramatic improvements in weight savings and advanced engine technology.
F-150 can tow up to 1,100 more pounds, haul up to 530 more pounds, and will have better fuel economy ratings than the current lineup. Fuel economy is projected to be at least 5 percent and up to 20 percent higher.
