One of the first automakers who started releasing information regarding their highlights at this year’s NYIAS is Ford. Their stand will premiere the updated Taurus and Taurus SHO versions which will enter the market as 2013 models.
The exterior of the new 2013 Ford Taurus does not look much different than the current generation, but it has been further refined through a series of tweaks that include restyled headlamps, a new trapezoidal grille, a new front bumper, revamped taillights incorporating larger LEDs and new alloys.
Various other discrete changes have also been performed, while at the interior the 2013 Ford Taurus range makes use of higher quality materials, and features a redesigned dashboard, a new steering wheel and updated gadgets which include the new MyFord Touch.
As far as powertrain options the 2013 Ford Taurus range welcomes the addition of a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder EcoBoost turbo unit that will produce 237 HP and 250 lb-ft of torque, and thanks to which this mid-size sedan will be able to return around 31 mph on the highway. The 3.5-litre V6 found on the outgoing generation will also feature a series of improvements on the new model. These improvements will raise its performance by around 27 HP to 290 HP and 255 lb-ft of torque plus it will lover fuel consumption by around 3 percent.
As far as the range topping 2013 Ford Taurus SHO, customers will continue to get the same 3.5-litre EcoBoost engine that is good for 365 HP and 350 lb-ft of torque. Both the regular Taurus and the SHO will be available with 6-speed automatic transmissions.
Pricing for the 2013 Ford Taurus will be announced at a later date.
