Fiat is using this year Los Angeles Auto Show to introduce the 500X crossover on the US market. The car is already on sale in some European markets, and will be available in the US in the second half of 2015.
Exterior
The new 500X has modest dimensions: it’s 167 inches long (4.25 meters – 2 cm more for the version suited to leisure), 70 inches (1.8 meters) wide and 63 inches (1.61 meters) height. The crossover appearance can be customized with 12 different liveries and eight different designs for the 16-, 17- and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Interior
The interior can be customized in the same color as the body, has new seats and a 6.5-inch multimedia screen that interacts with the passengers.
Drivetrain
In the United States, the new Fiat 500X is available with the 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine paired with a six-speed manual transmission, with an output of 160 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir2 engine produces 180 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque, and is paired exclusively to a nine-speed automatic transmission on all-wheel-drive and front-wheel-drive models.
Safety Features
The 2016 Fiat 500X offers up to 70 standard and available safety and security features, including Forward Collision Warning-Plus, LaneSense Departure Warning-Plus, Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection. Electronic stability control (ESC) with Hill-start Assist and electronic roll mitigation is standard on all models, as are seven air bags.
Trim Levels
As in Europe, the 2016 Fiat 500X is available in five trim levels: Pop, Easy, Lounge, and for a more rugged look, Trekking and Trekking Plus.
